Gabriella Balacco

Gabriella Balacco, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Hydrology and Hydraulic Constructions in the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land, Building and Chemical Engineering at Polytechnic University of Bari. Her major research areas are water supply systems, energy recovery from hydraulic networks, and groundwater. In particular, as regards groundwater, she deals with the relationships between precipitation and the same, also in light of ongoing climate changes. She is interested in groundwater pollution, in the use of geostatistical techniques for these same themes, and in the use of time series for the indirect description of an aquifer.

She has been PI of a few public-funded projects on groundwater systems with a particular focus on coastal karst aquifer and salinization processes and flood-managed aquifer recharge. She has published over 40 International Journals and Conference Proceedings.
